How to Block Discord on iPhone (App and Website)
To block Discord on iPhone, block both the app and discord.com. The quickest built-in way is Screen Time: go to Settings > Screen Time > App Limits, add Discord with a 1-minute limit, and add discord.com to the blocked websites list. Screen Time is easy to override, though. An app blocker like BlockMind blocks the Discord app and website on a schedule and adds a turn-off cooldown so the block holds.

Why block Discord?
Discord is great for staying close to friends, study groups and communities. It is also very good at pulling you back in. There is always another server, another channel with an unread badge, another voice chat starting. For many people it becomes the app that eats homework time, work hours and late nights.
Blocking Discord does not have to mean leaving. Most people want it gone during certain hours, such as school, work or after 23:00, and available the rest of the time. The methods below cover both a full block and a scheduled one.
Quick answer: 3 ways to block Discord
| Method | Blocks app | Blocks website | Hard to undo? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Screen Time App Limits | Yes | With a separate setting | No, "Ignore Limit" is one tap |
| Screen Time with a passcode someone else knows | Yes | Yes | Yes, but needs another person |
| BlockMind | Yes | Yes | Yes, with cooldown and Strict Mode |
Method 1: Block the Discord app with Screen Time
- Open Settings > Screen Time and turn on Screen Time if it is off.
- Tap App Limits > Add Limit.
- Open the Social category and select Discord. You can also search for it.
- Tap Next and set the time to 1 minute for a near-total block, or a daily allowance like 30 minutes.
- Turn on Block at End of Limit and tap Add.
When the limit runs out, the Discord icon is greyed out. The weak spot is the Ignore Limit button, which gives you 15 more minutes or the rest of the day in one tap. If you set a Screen Time passcode, it can ask for the code, but if you know it yourself, it is still easy to skip.
Method 2: Block discord.com in Safari
Blocking the app alone leaves a backdoor: discord.com works in Safari and other browsers. To close it:
- Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions and turn it on.
- Tap App Store, Media, Web & Games > Web Content.
- Choose the option that limits websites, then under Never Allow tap Add Website.
- Enter discord.com. Adding discordapp.com as well is a good idea, since some links still use it.

Method 3: Block Discord with BlockMind
BlockMind is an iPhone app blocker built so the block still works on your weakest evening. To block Discord:
- Open BlockMind and choose the apps and websites to block. Pick Discord and add discord.com.
- Choose how to block: block now for a focus session, on a schedule such as weekdays 9:00 to 17:00 or every night from 23:00, or with a daily usage limit.
- Set a turn-off cooldown, from 15 minutes up to 24 hours, so you cannot cancel the block on impulse.
- Turn on Strict Mode if you want your blocking settings locked for a period you choose.
When you open Discord during a block, you see a message from your future self instead of your servers. Staying blocked builds a streak, and you unlock new phases of your house as it grows, with new houses at the start, at 7, 30 and 60 days. See iPhone app blocker with Strict Mode for how the lock works.
How to make Discord less distracting without blocking it
If a full block is too much, these settings take away most of the pull:
- Mute busy servers. Long-press a server, choose notification settings, and set it to mentions only or nothing.
- Turn off push notifications for Discord in Settings > Notifications, or keep only direct messages.
- Hide the unread badge by turning off badges for Discord in the same menu.
- Leave servers you only lurk in. Fewer channels means fewer reasons to check.
- Move the app off your home screen into the App Library, so opening it is a choice, not a reflex.
- Use a Focus mode that silences Discord during study or work. Focus mutes notifications but does not stop you opening the app, as we explain in can Focus mode block apps on iPhone.
Example schedules
| Goal | Schedule |
|---|---|
| Study or school | Block Discord weekdays 8:00 to 15:00 and 17:00 to 19:00 |
| Work | Block during work hours, allow at lunch |
| Better sleep | Block every night from 23:00 to 7:00 |
| Cut back overall | Daily limit of 45 minutes |
Will blocking Discord delete my account or messages?
No. Blocking the app or the website only stops you from opening it on your iPhone. Your account, servers and messages stay exactly as they are, and friends can still send you messages, which you will see when the block ends. If you want a longer break, you can tell your friends, set your status, or turn off direct messages from server members.
What about Discord on a computer?
Blocking on iPhone does not affect your Mac or PC. If you also use Discord on a computer, use that computer's own screen time settings or a browser extension to block discord.com, and close the desktop app during focus hours.
